Coronavirus LIVE: With 651 active Covid-19 cases, Telangana extends lockdown till May 7

Coronavirus LIVE updates: India saw the sharpest spike in the number of Covid-19 cases in a single day with over 2,000 cases reported on Saturday. Total Covid-19 cases in the country has now mounted to 16,365 and death toll is at 507. On Saturday, 26 serving Indian Navy personnel tested positive for Covid-19 within naval premises at Mumbai and Ludhiana assistant commissioner of police (ACP) died of Covid-19. Meanwhile, the United States recorded 1,891 deaths due to novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours and the daily Covid-19 cases dropped to a single digit in South Korea with just 8 cases reported in a day. Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Sunday tweeted that 552 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 have been reported from across the state in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of confirmed cases in Maharashtra is 4,200. Out of these, 507 have been cured and discharged.

MP CM confers post-humous award to cop who succumbed to Covid-19

Telangana extends lockdown till May 7

Telangana CM K Chandrashekhar Rao told media outlets on Sunday evening that the state now has 858 confirmed cases of Covid-19. Out of these, 651 are active cases along with 186 recoveries and 21 deaths, including three in the last 24 hours.

CM KCR also said that the lockdown in the state stands extended till May 7.

2 more test positive for Covid-19 in Dehradun

With two more people testing positive for Covid-19 in Dehradun, the city's total number of confirmed cases is now 22. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand has 44 confirmed cases of Covid-19 to date.

Covid-19 patient attacks police, flees from MP hospital

A patient who had tested positive for Covid-19 in Madhya Pradesh fled from the Jabalpur Medical College on Sunday after allegedly attacking police.

On Sunday, the Chandigarh administration reported three new confirmed cases of Covid-19. The total numnber of confirmed cases in the shared capital of Punjab and Haryana now stands at 26.

No curfew relaxation in Punjab till May 3 

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Sunday took to Twitter to announce that curfew will remain to be in effect in the state till May 3. The only relaxation in this regard will be for wheat procurement.

17 new Covid-19 cases in Hyderabad

Authorities recorded 17 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 under the limits of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation on Sunday. Telangana has more than 800 confirmed cases of Covid-19 and at least 18 deaths and over 180 recoveries.

UP: Gautam Buddha Nagar reports 2 new cases

Gautam Buddha Nagar in Uttar Pradesh reported two new confirmed cases of Covid-19 on Sunday, taking GB Nagar's tally to 97.
The Gautam Buddha Nagar authority, Greater Noida authority and Yamuna authority have decided to open their offices from Monday onwards with 33 per cent employees and no entry for visitors.

Total confirmed cases in J&K now 350

With 9 new cases being reported from the union territory on Sunday, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir stands at 350. Out of these, 55 are from the Jammu division and the remaining 295 from the Kashmir division.

Odisha CM releases quarantine norms for migrants

The Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik took to Twitter on Sunday and said that the state government will try to bring back all of its natives stranded across the country once partial restrictions are lifted on April 20. Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday reported three new confirmed cases of Covid-19, taking the total number of cases in the town to 33. Out of these, 10 patients have recovered and 23 identified as active cases.

The Uttar Pradesh Police has registered an FIR against Valentis Hospital situated on the Mussoorie-Mawana Road in Meerut for demanding Covid-19 certificates from Muslim patients seeking treatment at the hospital.

27 new Covid-19 deaths in last 24 hours: Health Ministry

Lav Aggarwal, a joint secretary with the Ministry of Health, told media outlets that 1,334 new cases of the novel coronavirus have been detected across India in the last 24 hours. As many as 27 new deaths have also been reported in the last 24 hours, he added.

37,000 tests conducted in last 34 hours: ICMR

The Indian Council for Medical Research told media outlets that 37,000 tests for Covid-19 have been conducted across India in the last 24 hours.

514 new Covid-19 cases in Pakistan, total nears 8,000
