Coronavirus LIVE updates: India saw the sharpest spike in the number of Covid-19 cases in a single day with over 2,000 cases reported on Saturday. Total Covid-19 cases in the country has now mounted to 16,365 and death toll is at 507. On Saturday, 26 serving Indian Navy personnel tested positive for Covid-19 within naval premises at Mumbai and Ludhiana assistant commissioner of police (ACP) died of Covid-19. Meanwhile, the United States recorded 1,891 deaths due to novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours and the daily Covid-19 cases dropped to a single digit in South Korea with just 8 cases reported in a day. Telangana extends lockdown till May 7
Telangana CM K Chandrashekhar Rao told media outlets on Sunday evening that the state now has 858 confirmed cases of Covid-19. Out of these, 651 are active cases along with 186 recoveries and 21 deaths, including three in the last 24 hours.
CM KCR also said that the lockdown in the state stands extended till May 7.
